Minister For Health Signs Off On Free EHC Service for Medical Card Holders - UPDATED

With just over a week to go, Minister for Health, Simon Harris, has signed a statutory instrument changing access to emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) for medical card holders, effective 1st July 2017.

Minister Harris said “From next month medical card holders will be able to obtain EHC directly from a pharmacy, free of charge, without having to go to their GP for a prescription first."

Diagnosis and Treatment of an Acute Asthma Attack and the Supply and Administration of Salbutamol (IIOP CPD Course)

 

IIOP have published a new online training programme for the Diagnosis and Treatment of an Acute Asthma Attack and the Supply and Administration of Salbutamol.
 
This programme is a fully online and self-directed training programme, which enables pharmacists to satisfy the training requirements for the supply and administration of salbutamol in an emergency situation as outlined in S.I. No. 449/2015 and by the PSI.

National Survey of Patient Experience

In the first nationwide survey of its kind, the National Patient Experience Survey (NPES) will survey all adult patients discharged in May 2017, who have spent a minimum of 24 hours in an acute public hospital. The list of the 40 participating hospitals is available here. NPES is a joint initiative by HIQA, the HSE and the Department of Health.

Where to Source Folic Acid 5mg From

Conmel who are the only supplier of 5mg folic acid tablets in the Irish market have had a production issue and will be out of stock of Folic Acid 5mg until the end of May 2017.
